It all started in the year 2000, when a winemaker from the Nachmias family in Moshav Kerem Ben Zimra who grew different types of deciduous trees, learned about the healing properties of the pomegranate fruit, which compelled him to grow pomegranate trees. After much investigation, the winemaker discovered that
there are several varieties of pomegranates. The winemaker, renowned for his ingenuity and innovation, immediately embarked upon developing a unique variety of the pomegranate fruit. Several years later, when the trees were planted and the fruits ripened, the first thing that became apparent was the size of the pomegranate, which reached an astounding 1.5 kg!
The pomegranates were taken to a laboratory for testing, which showed exceptionally high sugar levels, identical to those found in wine grapes. This marked the beginning of the pomegranate wine making process, and the establishment of the Rimon Winery.
In 2003, only a few hundred bottles of wine were produced, which were received very favorably by both amateur wine drinkers and wine professionals and aficionados. As a result, the winery increased its production and has since produced hundreds of thousands of bottles sold in Israel and worldwide.
